SURVIVOR’S TRUTH COMMISSION

Special Counsel:

The New Mexico House Truth Commission is a bipartisan investigatory subcommittee of the New Mexico House of Representatives, established by unanimous vote in February 2026. The Commission is charged with investigating Jeffrey Epstein's activities at his Zorro Ranch near Stanley, New Mexico — a property he owned for 26 years — and the systemic failures that allowed alleged abuse and sex trafficking to go unaddressed for decades.

Operating with subpoena power and a $2 million budget, the Commission examines the actions and inactions of local and state law enforcement, identifies who may have known about or enabled Epstein's conduct, and coordinates its findings with the New Mexico Department of Justice. The Commission is committed to transparency: survivors have already been heard, and all findings will be made available to the public. Our goal is to deliver a full accounting of what happened in New Mexico — so that we can learn from these failures and ensure they are never repeated.

Survivor's Truth Commission

The Truth Commission is a bipartisan body, passed unanimously by the New Mexico House of Representatives in February 2026.

It is chaired by Rep. Andrea Romero (D-Santa Fe), an attorney and the legislator who originated and championed the Commission. She is joined by Rep. Marianna Anaya (D-Albuquerque), who has built her career working with sexual assault survivors, Rep. Andrea Reeb (R-Clovis) — a former district attorney — and Rep. William "Bill" Hall (R-Aztec), a retired FBI agent. Appointed by House Speaker Javier Martínez, the Commission's members bring legal, investigative, and survivor-centered expertise to this work.
